Role Description
This is not a desk job. This is a "I somehow got a sofa into Pitt Street Mall and is interviewing strangers about their couch" job.
You're our Creator in Residence - ideating, producing, and shipping short-form video across Koala's AU social channels. Concept to publish, you own it and are accountable for what hits.
You don't need a massive following, but you need the confidence to flip open the front camera and yap about something true, funny, or unhinged. You spot content everywhere - in the office, on the street, in a conversation at lunch.
We've got incredible ingredients - designers, engineers, R&D, office culture, big-brain legends making this brand hum. Your job is turning all of that into content that shows how innovative this place actually is. Repeatable formats, high pace, TikTok and Instagram (or anywhere short-form video is King).
You speak fluent internet. You know which memes are ours and which ones we leave. You clock real-life moments and turn them into short-form series that put our product in a better light.
You talk to creators as a peer, not a brand rep with a brief. You pull people into our world and build partnerships that grow the ecosystem.
We have the strategists already. This role is purely creative output and execution - high volume, high velocity. Make the feed pop, keep us in culture, never undermine the product.

Key Responsibilities
Be the primary creator across Koala’s organic social channels, producing short-form video and static content for TikTok and Instagram.
Concept and execute platform-native content across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, spanning short-form video and static formats that support brand storytelling and product moments
Create original content including product demos, behind the scenes moments, cultural reactions and repeatable social series
Align output to AU marketing priorities, including launches and key brand moments
Develop scalable content formats that build recognition and sustained engagement over time
Identify and act on timely opportunities for reactive, trend-informed content
Monitor platform shifts, emerging formats and audience behaviour to inform direction
Track organic performance and use data to refine hooks, pacing and narrative structure
Adapt selected content for Pinterest to support long term discovery and inspiration
Ideal background…
A Platform Native Creator: You have hands-on experience building audiences on TikTok and Instagram. This could be in-house for a DTC or lifestyle brand, at a social agency, or as a standalone creator who has successfully built and scaled their own personal brand.
Strong Craft Fundamentals: You are confident in ideating, filming and editing independently. You have advanced short form video editing skills using tools such as Capcut. A strong visual eye and understanding of brand aesthetics are essential.
Audience Aware and Insight-Led: You understand platform behaviour and engagement signals. You use performance insights to refine formats and storytelling, and you see comments and community signals as opportunities to deepen brand connection.
Culturally Fluent: You live online, stay across platform trends, formats and algorithm shifts, and know how to translate relevant moments into content. You have deep familiarity with creator culture and intuitively understand what works and why.
Creative and Organised: You can move quickly from idea to publish while managing multiple priorities. You combine strong creative instincts with structured execution.
